Fine
Art Nature Photography – Jim “Indo” Indelicarto
began his photographic journey in 1968 when he found an old plastic
Kodak 110 camera in the attic of his parents’ home. Making
colorful pictures of flowers instantly became a passion which
progressed to high school yearbook photojournalism and into college
sports.
By
1979, Jim decided that he wanted to take his photography beyond
amateur. With no formal education he was willing to sweep floors
in order to learn the ropes at a reputable portrait studio.
After four years of study at West Virginia University, and many
Saturdays spent assisting wedding photographers, Jim was offered
a partnership in a high volume studio in the Philadelphia area.
In 1986 Jim opened the doors of Zachary Photographic Gallery,
today a successful Wedding and Portrait Studio.
After
eight years of photographic study, print submissions, and lecturing,
Jim was awarded the degree of “Master Photographer”
from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the largest
international organization of image makers in the world. He went
on to earn the “Craftsman” degree and also became
Certified (CPP).
Jim believes in giving back: he has served on the Board of Directors
for the Guild of Professional Photographers of the Delaware Valley
for many years and was elected 1994 president for the association.
Devoting professional guidance and teaching to others in the industry
continues to be important. In the summer of 1999 Jim was invited
to speak at the PPA National Convention in Atlanta.
In
2002, inspired by the advise of a friend, Jim attended a weeklong
seminar on Nature Photography and the view through his camera
lens has never looked the same. Using different angles and points
of view opened up a whole new world. He found the beauty of nature
is frequently obvious, yet easily overlooked or taken for granted.
Nature can be breathtaking! To gaze in awe at the colors of a
sunset, or in autumn leaves ablaze. To capture that feeling on
3-D art is to pay homage and appreciation for nature’s awesome
design, mindful of its ever changing and surprising wonders.
As a photographer, Jim is a lover of the “sweet light”,
creating together a harmony, sharing with others the vision as
seen through his lens in a moment of time.
